Biofuel (BBN) consumption in 2013 and 2014

Vice Minister of Commerce Bayu Krisnamurthi said, until December 2013, the implementation of mandatory use biofuel or Bahan Bakar Nabati (BBN) is able to absorb 586 000 kiloliters of biofuel thereby reducing oil imports valued at U.S. $ 386 million. (2/12/2013).
In 2014 is predicted to reach 5 million kiloliters, and will able to save approximately U.S. $ 3 billion from oil and gas imports.

PT Perkebunan Nusantara IV (PTPN IV) is a State Owned Enterprise or Badan Usaha Milik Negara (BUMN) which operates in the field of agro-industry enterprises. PTPN IV commercialize plantations and oil palm cultivation and processing of tea which includes acreage and crops, nurseries and plant maintenance produce, commodity processing into a variety of industrial raw materials, commodities produced marketing and other support activities.

PTPN IV has 30 units Gardens which manages oil palm cultivation and tea, and 3 units of Core Development Project Gardens Palm Oil, 1 unit Plasma Estate Development Project Palm Oil, which spread in 9 districts, namely Kabupaten Langkat, Deli Serdang, Serdang Bedagai, Simalungun, Asahan, Labuhan Batu, Padang Lawas, Batubara , and Mandailing Natal.

The current production of crude palm oil (CPO) PTPN IV reached approximately 2,500 tons per day.

Estimated, in next 10 years the production of crude palm oil (CPO) PTPN IV will reach approximately 3,500 tonnes per day.

Pertamina and PTPN IV signed an agreement (MoU) for a joint study

PTPN IV and PERTAMINA study biofuel

PTPN IV  and PT PERTAMINA (persero) will create a joint venture engaged in the business of biofuels.

As a first step, the two sides signed an agreement (MoU) for a joint study to assess the economics value of their biofuels business for the development of an integrated biofuels business. (As as press releases received by the Media Indonesia, 03/02/2014).

Integrated, which integrate upstream (oil palm plantation) and downstream (end products such as biofuels). Thus, the end product is no longer crude palm oil (CPO) but green-diesel or biofuel.

In the early stages, biofuel production capacity will begin at the level of 10,000 barrels per day.

It is estimated that a joint study will be completed in April 2014, and if mutually agreed, then in June 2014 can be executed.
